profectus inde Abraham in terram australem habitavit interCades et Sur et peregrinatus est in Geraris

dixitque de Sarra uxore sua soror mea est misit ergoAbimelech rex Gerarae et tulit eam

venit autem Deus ad Abimelech per somnium noctis et ait eien morieris propter mulierem quam tulisti habet enim virum

20:4
Abimelech vero non tetigerat eam et ait Domine num gentemignorantem et iustam interficies

20:5
nonne ipse dixit mihi soror mea est et ipsa ait frater meusest in simplicitate cordis mei et munditia manuum mearum fecihoc

20:6
dixitque ad eum Deus et ego scio quod simplici cordefeceris et ideo custodivi te ne peccares in me et non dimisi uttangeres eam

20:7
nunc igitur redde uxorem viro suo quia propheta est etorabit pro te et vives si autem nolueris reddere scito quodmorte morieris tu et omnia quae tua sunt

20:8
statimque de nocte consurgens Abimelech vocavit omnesservos suos et locutus est universa verba haec in auribus eorumtimueruntque omnes viri valde

20:9
vocavit autem Abimelech etiam Abraham et dixit ei quidfecisti nobis quid peccavimus in te quia induxisti super me etsuper regnum meum peccatum grande quae non debuisti facerefecisti nobis

20:10
rursusque expostulans ait quid vidisti ut hoc faceres

20:11
respondit Abraham cogitavi mecum dicens forsitan non esttimor Dei in loco isto et interficient me propter uxorem meam

20:12
alias autem et vere soror mea est filia patris mei et nonfilia matris meae et duxi eam uxorem

20:13
postquam autem eduxit me Deus de domo patris mei dixi adeam hanc misericordiam facies mecum in omni loco ad quemingrediemur dices quod frater tuus sim

20:14
tulit igitur Abimelech oves et boves et servos et ancillaset dedit Abraham reddiditque illi Sarram uxorem suam

et ait terra coram vobis est ubicumque tibi placuerithabita

20:16
Sarrae autem dixit ecce mille argenteos dedi fratri tuohoc erit tibi in velamen oculorum ad omnes qui tecum sunt etquocumque perrexeris mementoque te deprehensam

20:17
orante autem Abraham sanavit Deus Abimelech et uxoremancillasque eius et pepererunt

concluserat enim Deus omnem vulvam domus Abimelech propterSarram uxorem Abraham

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

020:002
And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

020:003
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.

020:004
But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

020:005
Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

020:006
And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

020:007
Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

020:008
Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

020:009
Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

020:010
And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

020:011
And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.

020:012
And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

020:013
And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

020:014
And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.

020:015
And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

020:016
And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.

020:017
So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

020:018
For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
