ascendit autem Naas Ammonites et pugnare coepit adversusIabesgalaad dixeruntque omnes viri Iabes ad Naas habeto nosfoederatos et serviemus tibi

et respondit ad eos Naas Ammonites in hoc feriam vobiscumfoedus ut eruam omnium vestrum oculos dextros ponamque vosobprobrium in universo Israhel

11:3
et dixerunt ad eum seniores Iabes concede nobis septem diesut mittamus nuntios in universos terminos Israhel et si nonfuerit qui defendat nos egrediemur ad te

11:4
venerunt ergo nuntii in Gabaath Saulis et locuti sunt verbaaudiente populo et levavit omnis populus vocem suam et flevit

11:5
et ecce Saul veniebat sequens boves de agro et ait quidhabet populus quod plorat et narraverunt ei verba virorum Iabes

11:6
et insilivit spiritus Domini in Saul cum audisset verbahaec et iratus est furor eius nimis

11:7
et adsumens utrumque bovem concidit in frusta misitque inomnes terminos Israhel per manum nuntiorum dicens quicumque nonexierit secutusque fuerit Saul et Samuhelem sic fiet bubus eiusinvasit ergo timor Domini populum et egressi sunt quasi virunus

11:8
et recensuit eos in Bezec fueruntque filiorum Israheltrecenta milia virorum autem Iuda triginta milia

11:9
et dixerunt nuntiis qui venerant sic dicetis viris qui suntin Iabesgalaad cras erit vobis salus cum incaluerit solvenerunt ergo nuntii et adnuntiaverunt viris Iabes qui laetatisunt

11:10
et dixerunt mane exibimus ad vos et facietis nobis omnequod placuerit vobis

11:11
et factum est cum venisset dies crastinus constituit Saulpopulum in tres partes et ingressus est media castra in vigiliamatutina et percussit Ammon usque dum incalesceret dies reliquiautem dispersi sunt ita ut non relinquerentur in eis duopariter

11:12
et ait populus ad Samuhel quis est iste qui dixit Saul nonregnabit super nos date viros et interficiemus eos

11:13
et ait Saul non occidetur quisquam in die hac quia hodiefecit Dominus salutem in Israhel

11:14
dixit autem Samuhel ad populum venite et eamus in Galgalaet innovemus ibi regnum

11:15
et perrexit omnis populus in Galgala et fecerunt ibi regemSaul coram Domino in Galgala et immolaverunt ibi victimaspacificas coram Domino et laetatus est ibi Saul et cuncti viriIsrahel nimis

Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.

011:002
And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.

011:003
And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days' respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.

011:004
Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.

011:005
And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.

011:006
And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

011:007
And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.

011:008
And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.

011:009
And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and showed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.

011:010
Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.

011:011
And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.

011:012
And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.

011:013
And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.

011:014
Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.

011:015
And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
