abiit ergo inde David et fugit in speluncam Odollam quodcum audissent fratres eius et omnis domus patris eiusdescenderunt ad eum illuc

et convenerunt ad eum omnes qui erant in angustiaconstituti et oppressi aere alieno et amaro animo et factus esteorum princeps fueruntque cum eo quasi quadringenti viri

et profectus est David inde in Maspha quae est Moab etdixit ad regem Moab maneat oro pater meus et mater mea vobiscumdonec sciam quid faciat mihi Deus

et reliquit eos ante faciem regis Moab manseruntque apudeum cunctis diebus quibus David fuit in praesidio

dixitque Gad propheta ad David noli manere in praesidioproficiscere et vade in terram Iuda et profectus David venit insaltum Hareth

et audivit Saul quod apparuisset David et viri qui erantcum eo Saul autem cum maneret in Gabaa et esset in nemore quodest in Rama hastam manu tenens cunctique socii eiuscircumstarent eum

ait ad servos suos qui adsistebant ei audite filii Iemininumquid omnibus vobis dabit filius Isai agros et vineas etuniversos vos faciet tribunos et centuriones

quoniam coniurastis omnes adversum me et non est qui mihirenuntiet maxime cum et filius meus foedus iunxerit cum filioIsai non est qui vicem meam doleat ex vobis nec qui adnuntietmihi eo quod suscitaverit filius meus servum meum adversum meinsidiantem mihi usque hodie

respondens autem Doec Idumeus qui adsistebat et erat primusinter servos Saul vidi inquit filium Isai in Nobe apudAhimelech filium Achitob

qui consuluit pro eo Dominum et cibaria dedit ei sed etgladium Goliath Philisthei dedit illi

misit ergo rex ad accersiendum Ahimelech filium Achitobsacerdotem et omnem domum patris eius sacerdotum qui erant inNobe qui venerunt universi ad regem

22:12
et ait Saul audi fili Achitob qui respondit praesto sumdomine

22:13
dixitque ad eum Saul quare coniurastis adversum me tu etfilius Isai et dedisti ei panes et gladium et consuluisti proeo Deum ut consurgeret adversum me insidiator usque hodiepermanens

22:14
respondensque Ahimelech regi ait et quis in omnibus servistuis sicut David fidelis et gener regis et pergens ad imperiumtuum et gloriosus in domo tua

22:15
num hodie coepi consulere pro eo Deum absit hoc a me nesuspicetur rex adversus servum suum rem huiuscemodi in universadomo patris mei non enim scivit servus tuus quicquam super hocnegotio vel modicum vel grande

22:16
dixitque rex morte morieris Ahimelech tu et omnis domuspatris tui

22:17
et ait rex emissariis qui circumstabant eum convertiminiet interficite sacerdotes Domini nam manus eorum cum David estscientes quod fugisset non indicaverunt mihi noluerunt autemservi regis extendere manum suam in sacerdotes Domini

22:18
et ait rex Doec convertere tu et inrue in sacerdotesconversusque Doec Idumeus inruit in sacerdotes et trucidavit indie illa octoginta quinque viros vestitos ephod lineo

22:19
Nobe autem civitatem sacerdotum percussit in ore gladiiviros et mulieres parvulos et lactantes bovem et asinum et ovemin ore gladii

22:20
evadens autem unus filius Ahimelech filii Achitob cuiusnomen erat Abiathar fugit ad David

22:21
et adnuntiavit ei quod occidisset Saul sacerdotes Domini

22:22
et ait David ad Abiathar sciebam in die illa quod cum ibiesset Doec Idumeus procul dubio adnuntiaret Saul ego sum reusomnium animarum patris tui

mane mecum ne timeas si quis quaesierit animam meamquaeret et animam tuam mecumque servaberis

David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.

022:002
And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

022:003
And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.

022:004
And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.

022:005
And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.

022:006
When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)

022:007
Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;

022:008
That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that showeth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or showeth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

022:009
Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.

022:010
And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.

022:011
Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father's house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

022:012
And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

022:013
And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

022:014
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honorable in thine house?

022:015
Did I then begin to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.

022:016
And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father's house.

022:017
And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

022:018
And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.

022:019
And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.

022:020
And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.

022:021
And Abiathar showed David that Saul had slain the LORD's priests.

022:022
And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father's house.

022:023
Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.
